IMPASSE
sun gold strings
draw through threatening clouds
divine perspective
emblazons prisms of reflecting angles
one moment lasts over many
I hold your shelter
from the very first time the storm rattled through
a bulldozer flattened the playground
no one
brushes my hair, no one sees my little friend
hiding behind mirrored sunglasses
when I try to do it myself the comb
gets tangled and I crave your fertile fingers
condensation drips
from a water bottle in my backpack I carry you
like a girl scout badge something I accomplished in lists
and sewed to a sash over my heart,
will you listen if I whistle quietly
through the sky
will you know it's me
the golden outline of the heavens
holds your vow
uncertainty embroiders an uneasy glance,
an awkward exit
will you notice I am leaving
before I am full
(Once ,when we were
playing dress up,
a holy man said you were mine)
