Ghazal
Like weak tea, we walk beneath the waning moon of enlightenment
Why not blind our eyes in the blazing noon of enlightenment?
A lotus blossom in bloom, you petaled our wilting city to vidya. Levi, why did you leave this world via the world of enlightenment.
Old men smoke their pipes, sipping rassum from their bowls. Drink the spice of God with the shining spoon of enlightenment.
Hear the howling hymns in the North Wood’s lullaby tonight
then slip your soul to your lips and whisper the tune of enlightenment.
The Lord carved His words on the tongue of the Prophet that he may kiss the world
and tattoo on all eager hearts the holy runes of enlightenment.
