the sun comes rolling heat
\n& light into my skin, my eyes \u2013
\nI submit, this last
\nof summer, sweat & stink body
\nsacrifice the way
\nleaves will start dropping
\na month from now
\ntheir life\u2019s liquid chlorophyll lunch
\ndrying to a waxy brightness
\nstiff curl & crunch
\ninto autumn —
\nautumn, a poem prayer for autumn
\nits hallowed weenie brat
\nspidermen & ghouls,
\nthese few city houses playing
\nhost to adults & children alike
\nholding bags out for candy
\nofferings, sun & growth
\nblown away, a chill dumping
\nof snow, a prayer
\nto be left safe
\nfrom children & their guns.<\/p>\n
