Spring by Smith

spring revel

outside the yellow curtains
low mango moon
hanging pregnant, full
transforming dreams
into saffron pistils
quivering
light bent around trees
delicate dance of chestnut shadows
ivy speaking in tongues
the hoot owl’s questioning query
laughing ripples, lingering
upon the silent pond
leaving no kisses upon the further shore
It is Spring, who has arrived
removing her daily dress
revealing herself naked
in her dark and nightly scent.
