Oregon Coast by James Coufalik

Oregon Coast by James Coufalik

Savage Gulf Cumberland

Hillside of stone caves,
bright trees shine
where the thunder’s daughters are falling
with the wind.
I place my hand to the cedar
scraped by antlers
to gather a bundle of red sticks
in the shape of a hawk wing.
The sky passes,
the creek rises,
God pulses in a woman responding
to the hidden earth.
